Leticia

Leticia sits on Colombia’s sliver of the Amazon River on the border of Peru and Brazil. The river port is cosmopolitan, friendly, tranquil, safe and an ideal jumping off point to navigate the world’s greatest river. There is, however, no rush to leave with boat rides to view pink dolphins, fishing for piranhas, visiting indigenous people and shamans in nearby riverine settlements or hiking through the tropical rainforest to see snakes, caiman, sloths, hummingbirds, iguanas, and armadillos. Leticia Parque Santander’s daily show of thousands of parrots and parakeets returning to the park in the late afternoon from the forest to feed, rest and produce an incredible cacophony of birdlife. It’s a must experience and a popular social gathering for tourists, families and vendors.
