Limassol

Situated on the southern coast of Cyprus, Limassol (these days officially called Lemesos) is the island’s second-largest city and its principal seaport. The chief business centre of Cyprus, Limassol has a cosmopolitan and vibrant atmosphere, with plenty of sights and attractions to choose from in addition to sunny beaches, lively bars and world-class restaurants. Don’t miss the 14th-century Limassol Castle (which also houses the Cyprus Byzantine and Medieval Museum), before continuing further into the city’s Old Town district to discover Anexartisias Street (best for shopping) and Saripolou Square (the city’s main area for nightlife). Other highly recommended attractions include the beachside sculpture park of Akti Olympion, as well as excursions to the ancient city of Kourion (16 kilometres away) and the fascinating Kolossi Castle (14 kilometres away).
