YOUTH RUGBY TOUR IN SOUTH AFRICA

Day One: CAPE TOWN
Welcome to South Africa! On arrival, you will be met and escorted to the coaches for your orientation tour of Cape Town prior to arrival at the Park Inn Hotel. You will be able to leave your luggage for storage until check in time.

Park Inn, formerly known as Greenmarket Square Hotel is situated on the historic Greenmarket Square and forms part of the Central Business District of Cape Town. Over centuries this hotel has earned the distinction of being the meeting place for Capetonians and distant travellers alike. Historic buildings, continental cafes and interesting shops, surround this attractive hotel.

Transfer to the majestic Table Mountain. The 360 degree rotating cable car will take you to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy the sweeping views over Cape Town and out to Robben Island. Morning Rugby Match against one of the Private Schools, or Clubs,  in Cape Town (Arrange Direct)

You will be transferred to the V&A Waterfront where lunch will be at leisure prior to boarding the Ferry at the Nelson Mandela Gateway for the crossing to Robben Island.

For nearly 400 years, Robben Island, 12 kilometres from Cape Town, was a place of banishment, exile, isolation and imprisonment. It was here that rulers sent those they regarded as political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society. During the apartheid years Robben Island became internationally known for its institutional brutality. The duty of those who ran the Island and its prison was to isolate opponents of apartheid and to crush their morale. Some freedom fighters spent more than a quarter of a century in prison for their beliefs. Those imprisoned on the Island succeeded on a psychological and political level in turning a prison 'hell-hole' into a symbol of freedom and personal liberation. Robben Island came to symbolise, not only for South Africa and the African continent, but also for the entire world, the triumph of the human spirit over enormous hardship and adversity.

Return to the hotel and freshen up. The coach shuttle will be doing trips to the V&A Waterfront for those interested, alternatively, enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants in the area.
