RUGBY TOUR TO BORDEAUX
Travel by Eurostar under the Channel, and then on to the South of France by TGV
Dates: Long Weekend
Destination: Bordeaux, South of France
Rugby: One Match on Saturday pm, One Match on Sunday pm
Accommodation: City Centre Hotel
Other Activities: Accrobranche Adventure – Tree climbing, Abseiling.
Swimming in the Atlantic Ocean and Climb the highest Sand Dune in Europe! Wine Tasting (some serious), Sightseeing / market Tour Dinner in Local Restaurant a la Region.
ITINERARY:
Friday afternoon:
Travel to Bordeaux. Air travellers check in when they wish.
Saturday:
00.13 Train travellers arrive; walk to the hotel, and check in. Nightcap. AM: Leisurely start: Sightseeing and market Lunchtime: Wine Tasting. Visit and discover some Bordeaux Wines. The Bordeaux region is the second largest growing wine area in the world with 284,320 acres under vine, 57 appellations, 9,000 wine producing chateau, and 13,000 grape growers. We refer to the red wine as claret.
PM: First Rugby Match v local club. Party afterwards
Evening: Everyone can “do their own thing”: At leisure.
Sunday:
AM: Visit to the Bassin d’Arcachon & the Dune du Pyla, Europe’s highest sand dune. This dune reaches a height of 107m (350 ft). At the summit there are spectacular views over the ocean coast, the inlet of Arcachon Bay, the large Pine Forest of Les Landes, and, on a clear day, the Pyrenees. Time to relax on the beach and go for a swim! PM: Second Rugby Match v local club. Party afterwards Evening: Tour Dinner at local restaurant.
Monday:
AM: Accrobranche: Climbing, abseiling, in the Trees. PM: Depart for London. Train arrives back into Waterloo 20.54
Budget:
Train fare quote (see below) – London Waterloo to Bordeaux via Paris £150 pp Approx.
Final Costs always to be confirmed and will depend upon numbers, but estimated total costs once in Bordeaux £175 per person. This will include 3 nights B&B ensuite accommodation, transport around Bordeaux and its region, mandatory RFU insurance for the boys, parties at local clubs, Sunday night tour dinner (excl wine), trips to Dune du Pyla and Bassin d’ Arcachon, and to the wine tasting, and one Frenchman to guide us!
Not included: Dinner on Friday, Saturday & Monday nights; lunch on Saturday, Sunday & Monday (although the Host Clubs will provide hospitality), Accrobranche (est £20 pp extra), all alcohol.
Deposit:
£100 per person. Total estimated cost £325 per person based on 50 touring for everything included, including Train from London.

Leave Waterloo, Friday at 15.11. Be there for 14.15 Arrive Paris 18.53 and depart Paris 21.10 Arrive Bordeaux 00.13
Leave Bordeaux, Monday at 14.16, Arrive Paris 17.20, and depart Paris 19.19 Arrive Waterloo 20.54
Return Cost £150 approx per person. Times in France are +1 hour relative to London.
This is via Eurostar under the Channel, and south from Paris on SNCF Train de Grande Vitesse.
There is a direct Metro link (ligne 4) across Paris from the Gare du Nord to the Gare Montparnasse (there are some good restaurants around the Gare Montparnasse and the Gare du Nord for the return!)
