The Sjoa River is rated as some of the best white water conditions in Europe, and this journey will take you through narrow canyons and powerful rapids that the Sjoa River has gained its reputation from! Combined with great views of the beautiful Heidal valley, rafting on the Sjoa river provides a challenging and memorable experience when team work is essential. Regardless of whether you arrive as an individual or a formed team – this event will quickly form a team bond that will prevail throughout the event and beyond. The rafting company will provide you with a wet suit; including long johns, jacket, boots, helmet and life preserver. You may wish to have additional clothing available to wear with your wet suit, such as thermal underwear or fleece (man-made fibres are particularly recommended) as the source of the river is a glacier and it might get chilly! At the end of the rafting – and during the short journey back to the Rafting Company’s base – another round of the SYS cocktail ‘Adrenorphins’ awaits you; the Pendulum Jump from the Faukstad bridge. This is the opportunity to view the Sjoa river from a different perspective – but this time you will not be getting wet – albeit you may feel that you are going to enter the water before the pendulum effect of the jump elevates you to the far bank. Following the ‘Pendulum Jump’ you will be able to shower and enjoy a sauna or hot tub with an outstanding view of the fantastic local scenery. Then we provide you with a delicious traditional lunch made with ingredients unique to this region of Norway. In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to the Gudbrandsgard Hotel – a short journey through the beautiful ‘Pyre Gynt’ valley and the scenic mountain road to Kvitfjell.
You may choose to take the time to sample some of the Gudbrandsgard’s many facilities. Dinner in the Hotel. Depending on the day of the week (Friday – Saturday) - after dinner in the Hotel you may choose to go to the Gudbrandsgard’s very own nightclub for even more exercise! Day 3 After breakfast, you will head off to the Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh Track, where you will experience the wheel bob. This exhilarating sport is a unique attraction in the summer. The track Olympic Bobsleigh track has 16 curves and is 1700 metres long. Reaching speeds of 100km per hour, in a uniquely designed ‘wheel’ bobsleigh on the fastest curve, number 13, - you could be experiencing forces of up to 3G! This is an exciting ‘taster’ of the real thing – the formula one of ice track sports – bobsleigh! If you are yet to have the SYS Winter Experience – then put this on your list of things you must do!
After your quad safari, a short transfer will take you to Hafjell Olympic Ski Centre for the final round of ‘SYS Adrenorphins’ – the Mountain Cross Biking. One of Norway’s top mountain bikers and an Olympic Bob Skeleton coach (he is married to the Women’s Olympic Bob Skeleton Gold medallist Torino 2006) has designed and built an amazing range of Mountain Cross biking runs on the Olympic Alpine slopes at Hafjell. Like ski runs the routes are graded from relatively easy to extreme. You will be provided with ‘body armour’ helmet – top of the range mountain bikes and basic instruction before being taken by ski lift – with your bike – to one of the start points for a challenging descent! Once you have mastered the basic skills you will be amazed at the speeds you can achieve and the obstacles – natural and man made – to provide jumps and inclined walls- that you will be able to negotiate. On arriving at the finish – the awaiting ski lift will return you to the top of the mountain when you will have the choice of grade you want to take on for your next descent!
